Bunsen to Beaker 5K Race for Education Scores a Hit at Dandelion Days

The 25th Annual Bunsen to Beaker 5k Fun Run at Dandelion Days drew 91 runners and walkers for this annual family event held on March 16, 2013. The race started at Detert Park and ended in downtown Jackson amidst the Dandelion Days festivities. The course is a challenging but fun race course over 3.1 miles of hilly county roads and city streets. The Jackson City Police provided an escort for the runners.

The top 10 finishers were: Brandon Jacobs (18:34); Joseph Van Dyke (19:34); Matt Conrardy (19:15); Thomas Cahill (19:41); Nathan Price (19:48); Peter Smith (20:12); James Franey (20:24); Daniel Trassare (21:30); Randi McCarley (21:41); and, David Cooper (21:41). Winners received test tubes and beakers in keeping with the race theme. Gift certificates from New York Fitness, Waves of Healthy Hands Massage, and Motherload CrossFit were given to top male and female race finishers, best costume group, and final finishers in the non-competitive walk class.

Alyshia Davies Drake, Assistant Race Director, and husband, Ryan Drake, ran the race backwards as
salmon swimming up-stream offering encouragement to race participants. Alyshia enthused, “Best Race day EVER! Congrats to our finishers and big thanks to our sponsors. Big HOORAY to everyone who came in costume!”
